New full frame Sony A7s with 4K video.

Sony_A7SWith the new A7s, Sony is confirming at NAB 2014 its determination to make 4K video mainstream. Its new full frame mirrorless DSLR is the same practical small size as the A7 and A7r, but this time the “s” denomination stands for sensitivity. The main highlights:

  • Full frame 12.2 Mp sensor. Clearly here Sony looks for pixel quality instead of pixel count.
  • Huge ISO range of 50 to 409,600! Here is where s-sensitivity comes from.
  • 4K video recording to external 4K compatible recorder only. Full pixel readout without pixel binning.
  • 1080p can be stored internally.
  • 4K HDMI 4:2:2 output.
  • Recording to XAVC at 50 Mbps.
  • 120fps at 720p.
  • S-Log2 support.
  • WiFi & NFC.
  • Multi Interface Shoe.
  • XLR-K1M XLR mic adapter kit.
